Senior Leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and former Union Minister Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar addressed a press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Friday. During the conference, Shri Chandrasekhar condemned the lawlessness in DMK-governed Tamil Nadu, highlighting the sexual assault of a young woman by a DMK functionary, Gnanasekharan. He criticized the INDI alliance and Congress for violating constitutional rights, despite their claims of upholding the Constitution. He also emphasized the BJP's consistent fight for justice and the right to peaceful assembly.
Shri Chandrasekhar emphasized that on December 23rd, in the heart of Tamil Nadu's capital, Chennai, at the prestigious Anna University campus, a second-year engineering student, a young woman, was sexually assaulted by a group of men, while her companion was subjected to violence. Following the incident, it was revealed that the perpetrator of this heinous crime was a man named Gnanasekharan. He was arrested amidst public outrage and widespread protests against the crime. Further investigations have exposed that Gnanasekharan is not merely a sexual offender but a DMK functionary, with substantial evidence, including photographs, linking him to the top leadership of the DMK party.
Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar highlighted that the lawlessness prevailing in the DMK-governed Tamil Nadu under the INDI alliance is marked by history-sheeters, violent criminals, and sexual offenders who are becoming untouchable due to the protection they receive as DMK functionaries, backed by the police and the government. The BJP and NDA in Tamil Nadu are the only parties that have consistently raised this issue. From BJP State President Shri Annamalai to every karyakarta in the BJP Tamil Nadu, they have all spoken out in pursuit of justice for the young lady.
Shri Chandrasekhar urged everyone to read the FIR filed by the young lady, which reveals how Gnanasekharan, a DMK functionary, repeatedly threatened her with exposure and threatened her family if she dared to file a complaint. This is the kind of lawlessness and fear psychosis that DMK functionaries, along with the DMK itself, are imposing on the people of Tamil Nadu. As everyone is aware, the Mahila Morcha of the BJP organized a march today from Madurai, which is a right that belongs to every citizen.
Senior BJP Leader Shri Chandrasekhar pointed out to the constitution-waving members of the INDI alliance, who frequently talk about the Constitution at every opportunity, that Article 19(1)(b) of the Indian Constitution guarantees the right to assemble peacefully anywhere in the country. Despite this constitutional right, BJP workers, karyakartas, and leaders have been arrested. Ostensibly, they call it a preventive arrest, but without any doubt, it fully exposes how the INDI alliance, DMK, and Congress speak about the Constitution on one hand while, on the other, they do everything to violate it and infringe upon the rights of the people of Tamil Nadu.
Shri Chandrasekhar criticized the economic management of the INDI alliance and the Congress party, highlighting how the Congress party's politics of fake promises and freebies have pushed states like Himachal Pradesh into bankruptcy and are now driving Karnataka toward the same fate. The proof lies in the fact that the Himachal Pradesh CM is now discussing the subsidy provided by the BJP government, which waived 125 units, while the electoral promise of 300 free units has been completely forgotten. Similarly, in Karnataka, the government has increased bus fares by 15%.
Former Union Minister Shri Chandrasekhar emphasized what the BJP has consistently pointed out: the Congress's ideology of fake promises, along with the cost and suffering it causes, are ultimately borne by the common man, as the people of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh are now realizing.
