Arvind Kejriwal's claim of providing up to ₹25,000 per month is completely hollow and absurd. Kejriwal should explain how, with a budget of just ₹78,000 crore, he plans to give this so-called ₹25,000 per month to 40 lakh families

Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi addressed a press conference at the BJP Delhi State Office, on Sunday. During the conference, Dr. Trivedi stated that under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi, the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman recently is a comprehensive and transformative budget, designed with the common people in mind, and the greatest benefits are set to go to Delhi and its residents. With provisions for infrastructure, health, and the power sectors, along with historic tax and TDS relief for the middle class, the people of the country will reap both direct and indirect benefits.
Dr Trivedi remarked that the budget presented in Parliament yesterday is a transformative step toward empowering all sections of society and achieving Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. The budget lays a strong foundation for economic progress, benefiting everyone from farmers to the middle class. When the Union Finance Minister began the budget speech and highlighted six focus areas, including urban development, power, mining, tax reforms, and structural changes. It is notable that urban development received special attention for the first time.
BJP national Spokesperson Dr Trivedi conveyed that urban development and power are critical for India to become a developed nation and for its sectors to compete globally. In the context of Delhi, a predominantly urban area, these initiatives are expected to bring significant benefits to the city. The metro’s expansion to 1,000 kilometers across India, with Delhi’s network doubling in the last decade, marks a new era in infrastructure development. A key highlight of the Union Budget is its unprecedented focus on exceeding expectations. While previous budgets have partially addressed various demands, this is the first time the middle class has received benefits beyond what they anticipated. It was expected that those earning up to ₹10 lakh annually would get a tax exemption, but the government raised the limit to ₹12 lakh, surpassing expectations. Delhi stands to benefit the most, with nearly 1 crore middle-class residents and about 85% of taxpayers earning under ₹12 lakh. This means almost 85% of Delhi’s taxpayers will now pay little to no tax, making this a truly transformative decision.
Dr Trivedi explained that the Tax Deduction at Source (TDS), previously applicable for amounts above ₹50,000, has now been raised to ₹1 lakh. This means that earlier, if someone deposited money in the bank and earned interest exceeding ₹50,000, TDS would automatically apply. Now, this limit has been increased to ₹1 lakh. A significant portion of India’s population consists of senior citizens, many of whom rely on rental income for their expenses. Under the new provisions, no TDS will be automatically deducted on rental income up to ₹6 lakh, making this a highly beneficial move for senior citizens.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr Trivedi highlighted that the Union Budget 2025 introduced a revised tax structure, including a new 25% tax slab. Earlier, incomes above ₹15 lakh were taxed at 30%, but now individuals earning up to ₹25 lakh will save around ₹1.1 lakh in taxes. Even those with a monthly income of ₹2 lakh will benefit from this reduction. This people-centric budget stands out as a remarkable step in history.
Dr Trivedi highlighted several initiatives in the Union Budget aimed at boosting various sectors. New AI centers will be established, especially benefiting Delhi's skilled youth, along with five skill development centres to provide advanced training. These centres will prepare young individuals for future industries and help them build better careers. For street vendors, the ‘PM SVANidhi Yojana’ has been strengthened, and the credit limit for MSMEs increased, providing a significant boost to small and medium enterprises. Urban development plans include measures for sustainability, such as environmental conservation and water management, ensuring holistic growth. The government’s decision to offer tax exemptions will lead to a ₹1 lakh crore reduction in direct tax collection and ₹36,000 crore in indirect tax revenue. However, these steps align with Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s long-term economic vision, seen over the past decade.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr Trivedi emphasized that the Jan Dhan Yojana launched in 2014 connected 54 crore people to banking systems, empowering the weakest sections of society. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision of Direct Benefit Transfer enabled ₹2 lakh crore to flow into these accounts. Subsequent schemes like Kisan Samman Nidhi, the Productivity Linked Scheme, and Mudra Yojana further empowered vulnerable groups. As India grew into the world’s fifth-largest economy, with foreign exchange reserves crossing $600 billion, the government recognized the importance of supporting taxpayers.
Dr Trivedi highlighted that broadband connectivity is expanding throughout the country, bringing significant benefits, especially to the middle class and the nation as a whole. With enhanced road infrastructure and the UDAAN scheme connecting more than 120 new destinations, this marks the start of a positive and transformative era for India.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr Trivedi highlighted that in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, the self-proclaimed leader of new politics and widely labelled as the biggest hypocrite in India's politics, as well as the so-called staunchly honest convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, is now telling people that they will receive discounts worth thousands of rupees, among other promises. However, those who can work don’t just talk about it—they prove it through their actions, much like the BJP has done under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. The BJP has been running the Ladli Laxmi Yojana in Madhya Pradesh since before the BJP government came into power. In Assam, the Arunoday scheme has been providing financial aid to women for over four years. In Maharashtra, women received financial assistance even before the model code of conduct for elections was enforced. Similarly, it was done in Madhya Pradesh.
Dr Trivedi pointed out that Kejriwal has claimed in a byte, and it is also mentioned in his advertisement, that he will give up to ₹25,000 per month to the people of Delhi. This claim is completely unfounded, hollow and absurd. Delhi's budget is ₹78,000 crore, and there are 40 lakh families in Delhi. The self-proclaimed educated Chief Minister, an IIT graduate, whose knowledge is so exceptional that during the second wave of COVID, he suggested that the formula for the COVID vaccine should be shared with all companies to speed up vaccine production. However, he should have known that even a simple drug like paracetamol was being sourced from India by America at that time. Every pharmaceutical drug has a specific raw material, patent, and facilities required for production. Kejriwal seemed to think it was as simple as sharing a recipe for a herbal remedy! Dr. Trivedi questioned Arvind Kejriwal, asking that just as a false claim was made about poison being present in the Yamuna, now a similar false claim is being made about ₹25,000. Dr. Trivedi challenged Kejriwal to explain where this money will come from in Delhi's budget of ₹78,000 crore and to provide the figures for it.
BJP National Spokesperson Dr Trivedi stated that the people of Delhi have a clear understanding of Kejriwal’s record. On one side, there is the government under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s leadership with the BJP-NDA, which has not only promised what it would do but has also delivered on those promises. It has done things better than previous governments and with complete transparency. It has accomplished what past administrations couldn’t, like the implementation of GST. Moreover, it has done what earlier governments never even considered, such as transforming India into a hub for solar energy. For example, this budget outlines a target of 100 GW of nuclear energy by 2047 and 50 GW by 2033. And BJP has also delivered on tasks the opposition had tried to obstruct, like Article 370 and the Ram Mandir.
Dr Trivedi pointed out that under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, the BJP stands as a symbol of credibility and authenticity in politics. On the other hand, Kejriwal’s record is one of merely making baseless allegations, using abusive language, and doing nothing substantial. On the occasion of the budget, which presents a detailed account of income and expenditure, the actions of Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party make these lines particularly suitable, “Lehze Mein Badgumani, Lehze Mein Badjubani, Chehre Pe Naqab Liye Firte Hain, Jinke Khud Ke Bahi Khate Behisab Bigde Hain, Vahi Humse Sara Hisab Liye Firte Hain.” Kejriwal should provide an account of his balance sheet and explain how what he is claiming in Delhi's budget is possible. The BJP, on the other hand, has been continuously expanding its budget over the past 10 years, increasing facilities, and progressing accordingly. For example, the Mudra Yojana, which initially provided ₹10 lakh, now offers ₹20 lakh. As the economy expands, development work is being done for every section of society. On the other hand, Kejriwal only seems to be engaged in making baseless claims without any concrete action.
