The Committee constituted by Hon'ble BJP National President Sh JP Nadda to probe the vandalism of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue outside Town Hall in Amritsar submitted its report
On February 6, Thursday, Hon’ble Bharatiya Janata Party National President and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda received the report from the committee formed to investigate the vandalism of the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Heritage Street in Amritsar, Punjab. The incident, which took place on January 26, 2025, involved the statue being vandalized outside the Town Hall. In response, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda had formed a panel of BJP leaders on January 31, 2025, to look into the matter. The committee comprised Rajya Sabha MP and former UP DGP Shri Brijlal, BJP SC Morcha National President Shri Lal Singh Arya, former Union Minister Shri Som Prakash, BJP National Spokesperson Shri Guruprakash Paswan, UP Minister Shri Aseem Arun, and Smt. Banto Devi Kataria. On January 26, 2025, the 35-feet statue of Babasaheb in Amritsar was severely damaged with hammer blows, resulting in its disintegration.
The committee presented its detailed report to BJP National President Shri Nadda today, providing insights from its visit to Amritsar regarding the vandalism of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's statue. During their visit, the committee met members of the Scheduled Caste community at locations like the Ravidas Temple and Valmiki Temple, offering them solace. The committee also gathered information from various groups regarding the incident. Based on its findings, the panel has called for an NIA investigation into the unfortunate incident involving the statue of Babasaheb.
