Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation and Senior BJP leader Shri Amit Shah addressed a public meeting in Imphal, Manipur on Monday and criticized Congress for its historical neglect of Manipur and the Northeast. Shri Shah highlighted the developmental initiatives undertaken under Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership in the past decade, emphasizing that the region's progress is pivotal for India's overall development. During the event, Manipur Chief Minister Shri N Biren Singh, Manipur BJP President Smt A. Sharda Devi, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Ajit Gopchade and Lok Sabha Candidate Shri Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh were present on the stage.
Shri Shah emphasized the significance of April 14, commemorating Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's INA hoisting its flag in Moirang and the declaration of India's independence. Shri Amit Shah stated that the upcoming election is primarily about re-electing Shri Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. Shri Shah urged voters to cast their votes for the 'Lotus' symbol, asserting that each vote would strengthen Shri Narendra Modi, a friend of Manipur and the Northeast, in his position as Prime Minister.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation underscored that the upcoming Lok Sabha election transcends the usual Congress versus BJP dynamic. Instead, it's about those aiming to divide Manipur versus those working to unite it. Shri Shah criticized the Congress for consistently promoting division, both historically in the country and presently by attempting to split it into North and South India. Shri Shah also warned against the Congress agenda to divide Manipur, reassuring that such attempts would not succeed.
Shri Shah underscored Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's achievements in securing and advancing the country over the past 10 years. Shri Shah particularly highlighted PM Shri Narendra Modi's role in facilitating the construction of the long-awaited Ram Mandir. Shri Shah emphasized the historical significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's gesture of renaming 'Mount Manipur' after Maharajah of Manipur, who was exiled to Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the Britishers 125 years ago. Shri Amit criticized the Congress for not showing proper respect to Maharaja Kulachandra and Rani Maa, contrasting it with the BJP's acknowledgment and reverence towards them. Shri Shah highlighted the Northeast's long-standing struggle with Naxalism and separatism for 75 years, noting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's success in restoring peace during his tenure over the past decade.
Shri Amit Shah Stated that, in the past decade, over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty. Through PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana, 80 crore poor receive free ration. Notably, 12 crore toilets and 4 crore houses were constructed under PM Awas Yojna. Additionally, 10 crore poor received gas connections through Ujjwala Yojna, while 14 crore gained access to tap water.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation emphasized Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's belief that India's destiny will transform when Manipur and the Northeast experience development. Under PM Modi's leadership, over 10 agreements have been signed, and over 9,000 Naxals have surrendered, leading to a reduction in AFSPA in Manipur. Shri Shah highlighted the utilization of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre in spearheading the development of the entire Northeast region. Shri Shah pointed out that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has visited the Northeast 70 times, while ministers have collectively visited over 700 times. Shri Amit Shah criticized AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for questioning the significance of visiting the Northeast, emphasizing that these states are the soul of India. Shri Shah stressed that the development of these states is crucial for India's overall progress and prosperity.
Shri Shah highlighted the neglect of Assam by Jawaharlal Nehru and the lack of respect shown by the Congress towards Manipur, exemplified by the nearly 1000-day blockade imposed on the state. Shri Shah criticized the Ibobi Singh government for numerous fake encounters. Shri Shah also pointed out the casualties from conflicts, with 700 deaths in the Naga and Kuki conflict, 100 in the Pangal and Meitei conflict, and 315 in the Kuki–Paite conflict, attributing these issues to Congress's governance, which turned Manipur into a blockade state.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation highlighted the conspiracy of altering demographics by infiltrating Manipur. He stated that the Modi government will construct a border fence along the Myanmar border to safeguard Manipur, and work on the border has already commenced. Shri Shah mentioned that the BJP has decided to abolish the free movement regime that was exploited for drug trafficking. He announced that BJP Lok Sabha Candidate Basanta Kumar Singh, the son of Choba Singh (former BJP minister during Atal Singh's tenure) left his service as an IAS officer to serve Manipur. Shri Shah criticized the Congress for always prioritizing the 'Tukde Tukde Gang', stating that Congress Lok Sabha candidate is a member of the tukde tukde gang and will not allow Manipur to remain united.
Shri Shah stated that Bharatiya Janata Party has eradicated corruption in Manipur. He highlighted that recently there has been Naxal violence in Manipur, and establishing peace while prioritizing everyone's welfare is Shri Narendra Modi's primary goal in Manipur. Shri Shah mentioned that discussions will be held with those who have instigated these riots and also with those who have been involved in them. Shri Shah highlighted that Biren Singh had demanded from PM Shri Narendra Modi that Manipur cannot be unified without the Inner Line Permit, and the BJP government has strengthened Manipur by providing the Inner Line Permit. While criticizing the Congress, Shri Shah stated that during Sonia and Manmohan's ten-year government, there was looting, corruption, blockades, and bombings, with no development work accomplished. Shri Shah emphasized that in ten years, the Congress party allocated only 39 thousand crores for the development of Manipur, whereas PM Shri Nrendra Modi increased it fourfold, providing one lakh twenty thousand crores for Manipur's development. Additionally, 1300 crores were allocated for the 45 km-long Imphal-Moreh railway line, 2000 crores for the national highway, over ten thousand crores for railways, and for the first time in 75 years, goods trains have reached Manipur.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah noted that the Modi government has initiated several projects, including investing 132 crore for Imphal airport, allocating 160 crores for a public-private partnership hospital in Imphal, establishing COVID hospitals, and setting up a medical college in Churachandpur. Additionally, Shri Narendra Modi has launched the Sankalp Patra, which aims to construct three crore homes for the underprivileged. Shri Shah assured the people of Manipur with "Modi ki guarantee" that in the next five years, no one will be homeless in Manipur. The BJP government will provide every poor person with a toilet, gas connection, and an electricity-equipped home, as well as health insurance of up to five lakh rupees. Homes will be supplied with gas through pipelines, water through taps, and most importantly, the BJP government will ensure that Manipur does not fall apart. Shri Shah highlighted that Manipur went through a tough phase during Ibobi Singh's tenure, but in the past six years, Biren Singh has led Manipur out of it. Despite a recent Naxal incident, he assured people that the BJP government will establish peace in Manipur through dialogue with all parties, without breaking the state.
Shri Shah stressed the significance of the results from both Manipur Inner Lok Sabha and Manipur Outer Lok Sabha seats in shaping Manipur's alliances on the global stage. Shri Amit Shah appealed to the people of Manipur to vote in large numbers and ensure the BJP's victory and urged to elect Shri Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for the third time and secure a majority of ‘400 Paar’.
