Shri Shah formally announced an alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections in 2026. Shri Shah declared that the BJP will contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections under the leadership of AIADMK. He stated that the people of Tamil Nadu will expose the DMK's politics of corruption and scams, and will elect the BJP-AIADMK alliance to victory. During the event, Senior BJP leader and former Tamil Nadu State President Shri K. Annamalai and AIADMK General Secretary Shri E. Palaniswami among other leaders were also present.

Shri Amit Shah stated that today, leaders from the AIADMK and the Bharatiya Janata Party have unanimously resolved to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections together as part of the NDA alliance. This alliance will contest under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji at the national level and under the leadership of the AIADMK at the state level in Tamil Nadu.

Shri Shah stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not interfere in the internal affairs of the AIADMK. As far as NDA allies are concerned, all decisions will be taken jointly by the AIADMK and BJP within Tamil Nadu. The inclusion of AIADMK in the NDA is beneficial not only for the alliance but also for the AIADMK. The distribution of seats and allocation of ministries post-election will be finalized in consultation with alliance partners at an appropriate time.

Union Home Minister launched a scathing attack on the DMK, stating that the party continues to raise issues like Sanatana Dharma and the three-language policy with the sole intent of diverting public attention from core governance failures. The DMK government in Tamil Nadu is plagued by rampant corruption, atrocities against Dalits and women, and a complete breakdown of law and order. Under Stalin’s leadership, the state has witnessed multiple scams including the ₹39,000 crore liquor scam, sand mining scam, power scam, L-quotas scam, transport scam, money laundering, nutrition kit scam, free dhoti scam, gas cylinder-for-jobs scam, illegal raids, smuggling, and MGNREGA-related irregularities. The people of Tamil Nadu will vote in the upcoming elections with these issues in mind. The public is now demanding answers from Stalin and Udhayanidhi on corruption.

Shri Shah stated that the DMK is repeatedly bringing up matters like NEET and delimitation to distract from the real concerns. If necessary, the BJP and AIADMK will come together to formulate a common minimum program. The BJP will present the real issues to the people, who are well aware of them and are demanding answers from the DMK.

Shri Amit Shah stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party takes immense pride in the Tamil language, culture, and people and holds them in high regard. It was Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji who honored Tamil Nadu’s rich heritage by installing the ‘Sengol’ in the new Parliament building, something the DMK never even proposed. Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji launched the Kashi Tamil Sangamam and the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam to celebrate the deep cultural ties. It was also under his leadership that the traditional Tamil martial art ‘Silambam’ was included in the Khelo India initiative. Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji established the Central Institute of Classical Tamil with an investment of ₹25 crore and set up a Tamil Chair at the University of Houston in the USA. The government has also worked on translating the Thirukkural into various languages, completing translations in 63 so far.

Shri Shah emphasized that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji also released the complete collected works of the renowned Tamil poet Subramania Bharati. Additionally, Tamil Nadu’s youth could appear for IAS and IPS exams in the Tamil language. CAPF exam papers, previously available only in Hindi and English, are now also provided in Tamil, it is because of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Despite being part of the central government in the past, DMK leaders never took such steps.

Shri Shah stated that wherever BJP or NDA governments are in power, medical and engineering education has been introduced in local languages. However, despite continuous demands over the past three years, Chief Minister Stalin has not initiated medical and engineering education in Tamil. DMK has done nothing so far for the Tamil language. The question was raised as to why Congress remains silent, with the assertion that no other party in the country stands with DMK on such issues.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah mentioned that AIADMK has, in a way, been associated with the NDA alliance since 1998. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Smt. Jayalalithaa worked together in national politics for a considerable period. The BJP-AIADMK alliance had once secured victory in 30 out of 39 Lok Sabha seats. Shri Amit Shah conveyed confidence that the NDA alliance would secure a resounding win in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and that an NDA government would once again be established in the state.
