Addressing a a public meeting on this occasion, Shri Shah exhorted party workers to take the development journey of Gujarat to the masses. Earlier, the BJP president also visited the ancestral home of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel who was the principal architect of India’s unity and integrity. He paid his floral tribute to the legendary leader and brave son of mother India.
Shri Shah said that we are commencing ‘Gujarat Gaurav Yatra’ from Karamsad, the sacred birth place of ‘Iron-Man’ Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel where the veteran freedom fighter had first raised the voice of farmers, and had laid the foundation of national integration. Expressing hope that ‘Gujarat Gaurav Yatra’ will once again pave the way of a landslide win for the BJP, Shri Shah said that as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi had presented a corruption-free, decisive government and Gujarat model before the country. It was only after this model that the people of this country came to know that how a welfare state works and how it takes the development to the masses, he said.
Launching scathing attack on the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Shri Shah said that when Rahul Gandhi visits Gujarat he asks the account of Bharatiya Janata Party government. Instead, he should come up with the accounts of injustice meted out to Gujarat during the reign of his three generations, Shri Shah added. Congress party committed grave injustice with Gujarat since independence. They did injustice to Sardar Patel and he was not accorded with the ‘Bharat Ratna’ until the Congress remained in office. Not only this, Congress party tried all options to hamper the efforts of placing his oil portrait in the parliament and tried to disrupt a tributary meet of Sardar Patel, Shri Shah alleged.
Detailing how three generations of Congress party did injustice to Gujarat born leaders, Shri Shah said that the first generation of Congress did injustice with Sardar Patel, the second generation did injustice with the sixth Prime Minster Shri Morarji Desai and the third generation committed injustice with the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ‘Vikas-Purush’ of India. Congress should reply, he said.
“I have come up with the accounts of Congress regime since independence to 1995 and the BJP regime since 1995 to 2017 before the people of Gujarat”, Shri Shah said. Under the Congress dispensation, Gujarat was compelled to live in the dark, whereas the BJP regime has been providing 24 hour power supply. While the Congress neglected the education, BJP has ensured a rich and healthy education policy, there was nothing called roads in Gujarat during the Congress rule whereas Gujarat is a model for infrastructure and roads today, Shri Shah declared. Congress government in Gujarat was a symbol of corruption but the BJP dispensation is an epitome of transparency and the development.
Drawing lines of comparison between the Congress and the BJP, the national president said that when we compare the governments of both the parties in Gujarat, we find that Gujarat grew leaps and bounds during the BJP rule, be it budget, capital income, power generation, infrastructure, agriculture or the milk production. There has been a tectonic shift in the development narrative of Gujarat after the BJP came to power in 1995, Shri Shah said. Shri Modi took the dairy development to Suarshtra and Kutch whereas earlier it was limited to the southern and northern Gujarat, the party president elaborated.
Recalling how the cooperative bodies used to provide farm loan at the unbelievably higher interest rate of 14% \, Shri Shah said that today the same cooperative institutes have been providing the farm loan at 1% interest rate. Earlier Gujarat was struggling with the water scarcity, but we have overcame the crisis with building check-dams and reservoirs with the help of cooperative bodies, schemes like Sujalam Sufalam and Narmada have ensured easy availability of water to the people and the farmland under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Shah said that the agriculture output in Gujarat has grown exponentially during the BJP regime after 1995. While the agriculture output in 1995-96 was merely 47 lakh metric tones it has now reached to 63 lakh metric tons. Similarly, the fruit production in 1995-96 was meager 21 lakh metric tons which has now touched the historic landmark of 86 lakh metric tons, Shri Shah added.
The BJP president said that we began a new chapter of development in Gujarat under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. He has also made curfew-free Gujarat, the party president said. Through ‘vibrant Gujarat’, Shri Modi brought investment and industry in the state. Shri Shah said that Gujarat made a record in every arena under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, whether it is literacy rate, electricity generation and consumption, infrastructure development or the rise in the number of vehicles, Shri Shah stated. Engineering seats have grown 14 times whereas the medical seats have grown 7 times during the BJP rule, Shri Shah informed.
The party president said that per capita income of Gujarat was just Rs 13,665 in the year 1995-96, whereas it has risen to Rs 1,43,504 in 2017 which is way ahead than the national average. Continuing his tirade against the Congress, Shri Shah said that Congress does not see the development figures and it is ridiculing the development of Gujarat, the people 0f the state will give a befitting reply to the Congress for this derision in the upcoming assembly election. Gujarat stood first in several areas after 1995, its credit goes to the BJP and Shri Narendra Modi, he said.
Listing historical injustices meted out to Gujarat during the Congress led UPA regime, Shri Shah said that whether it is revenue sharing, highway construction, Narmada yojana or the injustice with Sardar Patel, Gujarat has been at the receiving end of the Congress. The BJP president said that in 13th Finance commission under Dr Manmohan Singh led UPA, share of Gujarat in central taxes was merely Rs.43, 345 crore. The Modi Government has hiked it to Rs1,22,453 crore in the 14th Finance Commission, which is almost three times more than what the previous regime sanctioned, the party president informed. Shri Shah said that Grant in aid to Gujarat has also been increased to Rs. 15,962 crore from Rs.8,486 crore. Allocation of Local Bodies Grant has been increased five-fold from Rs. 2,723 crore to Rs.15042 crore, the BJP President stated.Similarly disaster relief fund has also been hiked to Rs 2,920 crore from the earlier allocation of Rs 2,081 crore. An aggregate sum of Rs.1,58,377 crore has been allocated to the state by the Modi Government, whereas under Congress lead UPA Government it was merely Rs. 63,346 crore. Stating that the Modi government has done lot of work in Gujarat, be it revenue sharing, highways, or Narmada yojana, the BJP president said that Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru laid the foundation stone of Sardar Sarovar in 1961 but it was Shri Narendra Modi who completed the project and from now we can take water to every farm field in Gujarat. Rahul Gandhi should reply as to why it committed the sin of disrupting Narmada yaojana. Shri Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has ensured the development of Gujarat with justice, rights and dignity. An era of peaceful and dignified development ushered in during the BJP regime, Shri Shah said. The magnificent growth story of Gujarat became possible only because of Shri Narendra Bhai Modi. Exhorting the party workers to ensure that the party won over 150 seats to form a development-oriented and welfare BJP government in the state, Shri Shah said that workers should take the development story of Gujarat under Shri Narendra Bhai Modi to every village and every person through ‘Gujarat Gaurav Yatra’. Shri Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of our country today and the BJP government in Gujarat under the leadership of Shri Vijay Bhai Rupani and Shri Nitin Bhai Patel has been working for the welfare of the people and the development of state has been running fast due to the power of double engine, Shri Shah said.
