South Block’s silence on Iran shielding bombers baffling
- Shri Tarun Vijay, MP and National Spokesperson, BJP
8th September, 2012- New Delhi-Expressing concern over Indian foreign ministry’s silence on Iran's refusal to cooperate with Indian agencies investigating bombing of Israeli embassy in New Delhi, Mr Tarun Vijay, Member of Parliament and National Spokesperson, BJP said that this is yet another example of a govt gone astray and rudderless. Iran has 'dishonoured' our understanding of fraternal relations Tarun Vijay said. Its another way to shield the bombers, he accused.
In spite of India helping Iran by having the NAM summit in Teheran, without caring for the western nations’ reservations, Iran has rudely stonewalled Indian investigating agencies’ efforts to get information about the four Iranians allegedly involved in the February 13bombing of the Israeli vehicle here, injuring an Israeli official who was going to pick up her kids from school.
It is surprising that a two member team of Delhi police returned empty handed from Teheran where they had gone on an specific mission to have information on Houshang Afshar, alleged bomber in the case, and three other accused -- Masoud Sedaghatzadeh, Saeid Moradi and Mohammad Kharzei .
The media reports have quoted Home Ministry official as having said that "Iranian authorities have virtually stonewalled all efforts to get any information on the four accused," who further added that,’' despite handing over all evidence regarding the four Iranians' alleged involvement in the terror strike, Iranian authorities showed no inclination to share anything about the accused’.
Even the passport details of the four accused, presented to authorities in Tehran elicited no response except a standard reply- that if they get any information, it will be shared with New Delhi in due course of time.
How can India accept this attitude from a country who is said to be a friend and an ally? Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was all praise for the Iranian leadership in NAM summit, did he also take up the issue of Iran's refusal to cooperate with India on the terror front? Is cooperation on combating terror not on the Indian agenda while dealing with Iran? It seems domestic appeasement policy and a sham secularism is allowed by UPA government to hamper India's fight against terror.
