Anurag Thakur marches in protest against illegal immigrants in Assam
BJYM National President & MP Shri Anurag Thakur took out a protest march against illegal immigration in Nalbari, Assam today. He presented a petition to the judicial magistrate on this subject in the presence of thousands of BJP supporters. He raised several important questions for the UPA Government.
Anurag Thakur asked the people of north east who had fled from their work places and colleges in various parts of the country to return without any fear and assured them of full support from the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He said that the BJP has always stood by and will continue to stand with the people of Assam. Thakur said that it was the BJP who raised the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Assam but the Congress called it communalism. He called out the Congress led UPA for labelling any attempt by the BJP to raise questions of national importance as communal.
Anurag Thakur asked the Congress what prevents them from implementing the Assam Accord, signed by a Congress Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi 27 years ago. He asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi whether they lack the spirit to implement tough laws on matters of national security.
Anurag Thakur asked the Congress led UPA Government to set a minimum timeframe to completely seal the Indo Bangladesh border as was done with the Indo Pak border. He asked the Prime Minister why the National Register of Citizens has not been updated despite his assurances in a meeting with Tarun Gogoi and the then Home Minister in 2005. He asked the Congress led government in Maharashtra what it had done to punish elements of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and its head Badruddin Ajmal who are believed to be responsible for the desecration of Amar Jawan Jyoti in Mumbai.
Anurag Thakur asked the Government to take action against the 20 million illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in India who are taking away jobs meant for the Indian youth. He said that the Government inaction towards illegal immigrants was encouraging terrorists, Maoists and Naxals and putting national security of India into jeopardy. Thakur said that this is a continuation of the UPA’s policy of being soft towards anti national elements as seen in the Afzal Guru case.
In his speech, Anurag Thakur posed specific questions to the Congress, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Does the Congress agree with the Assam Accord signed by Rajiv Gandhi? If so, what prevents them from implementing it? Why has the National Register of Citizens not been updated? Why is the Congress consistently soft on foreign infiltrators at the cost of the indigenous population? Does the Congress choose vote bank politics over security and prosperity of the nation? Or does Congress simply lack the will to act?
