Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) was formed about 13 years ago; it has units in USA, UK and Canada. It has been striving to project positive and correct image of India and BJP to the Western world, and correct the distortions and false image of BJP, created by its adversaries. OFBJP works to promote the interests of India and the NRIs around the world.
The announcement of parliamentary elections for electing the 14th parliament has created tremendous interest and anticipation not only in India but also abroad. The BJP supporters all over the world are very happy that the initial indications are pointing towards a great victory of NDA government under the leadership of Shri Vajpayee.
Since the announcement of the elections OFBJP has been projecting the achievements of BJP led coalition government to the western world through emails, press statements, public meetings, advertisements in the ethnic media, etc. In the last 2-3 weeks various chapters of OFBJP-USA have celebrated India Shining and the successful completion of 5 years of Vajpayee government. This has created tremendous goodwill for BJP.
This is the first time that over 20 senior workers of OFBJP(USA) have taken time off from their busy life and have come to India for participating in the election campaign and put forth to Indian voters Indian Diaspora's point of view that why Vajpayee government should be voted back with greater majority to rule India for another 5 years.
Indian Diaspora believes that BJP led coalition government has achieved tremendous progress in all spheres of life, that the 'feel good' factor is just not confined to India, but it has transcended the Indian boundaries and over 20 million persons of Indian origin living abroad also feel good about the performance of this government. This change is quite perceptible to any NRI whenever he/she visits India. The conditions of roads, telephones, electricity, transportation etc have improved many folds. In IT field India is already recognized super-power. In international community India has gained a very respectable position. In economic field, it is on the verge of becoming an economic giant. All this change has happened only in the last 5-6 years.
Indians living abroad feel today very proud of India and would like to thank BJP led government, for addressing many concerns of NRIs and PIOs, especially granting dual citizenship and relaxing many rules so that now it is easier for NRIs to conduct business in India.
