Points of BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh's Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Rajnath Singh alleged that the UPA government failed to enact a stringent law against terrorism despite a strong recommendation by the Administrative Reforms Committee headed by Congress senior leader Veerappa Moily. Delivering a key note address on "Role of Youth in Maintenance of Internal Security" at Campus Law Center, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi on Monday (29 Sep 2008) the BJP President said that it would be difficult to fight terrorism with the help of existing laws. "United States of America enacted a stringent law against terrorism. Several nations have revived 600 year old laws to fight terrorism. Unfortunately, the UPA government had abandoned POTA aimed to fight terrorism. The UPA government should have amended POTA instead of calling it a failed law," the BJP leader said. Shri Rajnath Singh alleged that Dr. Manmohan Singh government is subjecting national security to vote bank politics. "The UPA government failed to build a national consensus to fight terrorism. The irony is that the Congress leadership is not even discussing the subject with its allies in the UPA," he said. Expressing concern over calling the banned jehadi terrorist organisation SIMI as a cultural organisation, Shri Rajnath Singh reminded the gathering that the US State department in its annual report said that the India was the worst sufferer of terrorism in the year 2007. "A section of the politicians and so-called social activists are suffering from chronic disorder in the mindset. Otherwise they do not support dreaded organisations like SIMI and propogate silly reasons for growth of terrorism in India. Poverty is not the only reason for terrorism, Most of the terrorists are well educated and belong to economically sound families," he said. Coming down heavily on Jamia Millia Vice Chancellor Mushirul Hasan for announcing legal support to the terrorists those arrested for their involvement in the serial blasts in Delhi and other places, Shri Rajnath Singh said that the nation is above beliefs and faiths. Stating that anti-Indian forces have unleashed economic terrorism by circulating nearly Rs. 100 crore fake currencies in the country, Shri Rajnath Singh alleged that the UPA government had belatedly took the note of illegal money entering into the country through Participatory Notes. The BJP leader called upon the students and youth to take citizen awareness campaign against anti-national activities and anti-nationals. "You are the public opinion builders and leaders. I urge to launch a massive awareness campaign against terrorism including economical terrorism and cultural terrorism." ***** |
