Press release on Nepalese PM's courtesy visit on BJP National President

New Delhi 16th September 08 : The BJP National President Mr. Rajnath Singh has expressed his hope that relations between India & Nepal will be strengthened under the Prime Ministership of Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prachanda's regime.

Mr. Rajnath Singh was welcoming the Nepalese Prime Minister at his residence this evening in New Delhi.

Mr. Singh called upon the Prime Minister of Nepal to encourage and build up a peaceful industrial environment to attract investment for Nepal's development.

Mr. Rajnath Singh also raised the issue of Koshi river floods damaging both Nepal and India.

He called upon Mr. Prachanda to stand together unitedly to liberate the people of both the countries from the suffering of perennial floods.

The BJP National President also said that Nepal and India share one of the largest hydrological regions in the Ganga-Brahmputra basin and we can harness the water management to our mutual benefit.

In response to the BJP National President Mr. Rajnath Singh's speech Mr Prachanda said that he had a deep desire to meet BJP top leaders.

The Nepalese Prime Minister said that there has been a communication gap which he wanted to bridge through this visit and meetings with top BJP leaders.

Commending Mr. Rajnath Singh's remarks that India and Nepal shared emotional relations, Mr. Prachanda said that he agreed in to about this great factor between the two nations.

The Nepalese P.M. said that their fight was against the royalty's tyranny and not against the age old puranik relations between India and Nepal.

Mr. Prachanda used this occasion to invite Mr. Rajnath Singh to visit Nepal and Pasupatinath temple along with Janakpur.

The Nepalese P.M. remarked that the relations between India and Nepal are since the puranik era of Ram & Sita and no body can break it.

He said that we want a vibrant democracy.

Mr. Prachanda in a relevant remark said that there may be political and ideological difference between us, but I am with you as regards your philosophy.

He said that India will benefit if Nepal becomes prosperous as a poor Nepal will hurt both China and India.

He further said that Chinese are already troubled by poor Tibet next door.

He said that political revolution will fail if economic development doesn't take place.

The Nepalese P.M. said that we need political stability and without you we can not have that political stability.

He appealed upon India to co-operate with open heart.

Shri Rajnath Singh in his concluding remarks said that it is our prayer that new republic of Nepal may prosper. You have dispelled many misgivings by your visit and we promise all support to you.

Earlier, BJP leaders Dr. M.M. Joshi, Shri Ravi Shanker and Shri Arun Shourie emphasied the need for pragmatism to strengthen the bilateral relations.

Dr. Joshi said that in order to build dams and hydroelectrically projects you need engineers and India can do a lot in training the Nepalese students in this regard.

Shri Ravi Shanker ji appealed to the Nepalese PM to liberate both Nepal and India from the scourge of regular floods.

Shri Arun Shourie said that it is more important for Nepal to watch about others activities on Nepalese soil as it will hurt both if such elements are allowed to misuse the Nepalese territory.

BJP President was accompanied by a delegation of senior BJP leaders and RSS functionaries during the meeting.
