In view of the great suffering of the people of Bihar on account of ravaging floods of the Koshi River affecting more than 25 lakhs people in the State, the entire nation needs to be united in helping the State of Bihar to overcome this great calamity by rising above political divide. The Prime Minister has already declared it to be a National Disaster.

Accordingly, I have decided to donate Rs. 25 lakhs from my Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD fund) to the Bihar Chief Minister Relief Fund to help mitigate the suffering of the unfortunate flood affected people. I also appeal to the Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha and Hon'ble Chairman of Rajya Sabha i.e. Mahamahim Vice President of India to take all steps so that MPs from other States as well can contribute from their MPLAD funds as was done in the case of Sunami and Gujarat earthquake. This is the need of the time.
