Condemns The Arrest of Its National President Shri Rajnath Singh New Delhi - 14 August 08 : The BJP condemns the UP Government for arresting its National President Shri Rajnath Singh alongwith BJP leaders and workers at the NOIDA-Delhi border. The BJP sharply criticised the Mayawati Government for going trigger-happy against the farmers, killing nearly half a dozen and injuring hundreds in the unjustified display of force. The statement further accused both the former Mulayam Singh government and the present Mayawati government for having mis-managed the farmers issue in Greater Noida and elsewhere in the state. BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh was going to Kailash Hospital in Noida to meet the injured farmers and also to visit the kith and kin of the farmers in the village of Ghori-Bachera who lost their family members when the police unrestrained showered bullets on them and to the tune of two hundred rounds. This arrest is a part of the intimidating tactics to bully the democratic forces who are demanding just treatment towards the farmers. The BJP will not allow the Mayawati government to trample the rights of the farmers and will fight for their just demands and rights till its logical conclusion. Shri Rajnath Singh expressed his grief over the death of six farmers and two policemen in the clashes and demanded adequate compensation for the families of the bereaved.
